I thought that I would include this latest piece here in the magick section. if for no other reason than it illustrates the intimacy and responsibility that is experienced when an individual attempts to harmonize themselves with the light.
Id rather see a sermon
Than to hear one, any day;
Id rather one should walk with me
Than merely show the way.
I can soon learn how to do it,
If you'll let me see it done;
I can watch your hands in action
But your tongue too fast may run.
All the lectures you deliver
May be very wise and true,
But I’d rather get my lesson
By observing what you do.
Though I may not understand you
And the fine advice you give,
There is no misunderstanding
How you act and how you live
"Magick is the Science and Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will".
Illustration: It is my Will to inform the World of certain facts
within my knowledge. I therefore take "magickal weapons", pen, ink, and
paper; I write "incantations"---these sentences---in the "magickal language"
i.e., that which is understood by the people I wish to instruct; I call
forth "spirits", such as printers, publishers, booksellers and so forth
and constrain them to convey my
message to those people. The composition and distribution of this
book is thus an act of Magick by which I cause Changes to take place in
conformity with my Will. note: In one sense Magick may be defined as the
name given to Science by the vulgar.
ANY required change may be effected by the application of the proper kind and degree of Force in the proper manner, through the proper medium to the proper object.
Every intentional act is a Magickal act.- Magick in Theory and Practice
by Aleister Crowley
Why would a Witch have anything to do with Crowely, let alone quote
him on his home page?
..well people, regardless of the personal life of the man I believe
he was a very gifted Magician. did he go off the deep end after a while?
yes, that should not be grounds to discount the entirety of his work.
Magick has been defined in many ways throughout the centuries. That definition is one that keeps changing, what is considered science in this time was the Blackest of Magick just a few short years ago. The Wicca, though, have always known that magick is the ability to change (yourself or the world around you) and that it is our gift as a species to be aware enough of ourselves and the world around us to consciously choose how we grow and change. The evolution of our spirit and of our world is not in the hands of anyone except ourselves. That can be a frightening realization, that you are responsible for your own actions.
Physics will have us believe that in witnessing an object or an event we change it and are changed by it. This is not a new idea. If this is accepted as truth then should we not direct our attention in such a way as to support the principals of growth, change, and harmony? And in doing so also manifest those principals in our own lives. With that in mind I present the following procedures. Through them may you witness a portion of the Eternal that we call The Goddess and God and be changed by the witnessing.

Select a colored candle that corresponds with the desired outcome. Cast a circle then Magnetize the candle with a suitable oil. While you are dressing the candle say
“Upon this candle I will wright
What I require of thee tonight
May the runes of magick flow.
By mind and spell
and flame aglow. I trust that
You will grant this boon
Oh Lovely Goddess of the Moon”
Now take up your blade and carve a rune or symbol that represents
the goal of the spell. Place
the candle on the center of the alter and light it while proclaiming;
“As my will so mode it be!”
Now allow the candle to burn itself out with out being disturbed.
